South across Mather Pass

Having ascended Mt. Sill from the Glacier Creek drainage, you can then intersect the Muir Trail either by descending Glacier Creek or crossing Cirque Pass to reach the lower of the two Palisade Lakes. From there, Mather Pass (12,100 ft.) awaits with its wonderful views back toward the summits of the Palisade group (below). Above left is Upper Palisade Lake with Mather Pass to the right.
